It is curious that winning our freedom demands that we enslave ourselves to self-discipline. I did most of my research on procrastination (lots of posts about it on my blog) when I first started working from home. I think I am through it now, but that 9-5 and the office buddies sure provides good scaffolding. Somehow we end up not feeling guilty. But the question for me is when are we most productive?

Anyway... Good point - once that scaffolding comes down, it becomes our own responsibility to keep a good work-life balance. For me that meant building my own scaffolding: limiting the number of hours on the laptop. Making family time and scheduling time to 'switch off'. It hasn't been easy to undo 15 years of working in a office!
